Time Flies...

One year ago Fiona was just learning to roll over...

Today she's a sassy little thing running around the yard in funky sun hats and shades and taking walks through the neighborhood with Papa. She is embracing toddlerhood with gusto! Brian and I are learning how to parent this little girl who is showing more and more independence all the time. As Brian said, it was much easier when she was a baby and didn't have an opinion about everything! She is a Jacobson girl after all and we like to do things our own way!

Here is where I stray from my usual happy news and updates.... After all parenting isn't just about the happy bits!

What a long week I've just had! Brian was in Seattle for training and my back and hip were killing me. It is really hard to keep up with a toddler (and daycare kiddos) when you are in constant pain! Thankfully Brian is home now and I got some treatment from Zoya which has helped with my back pain. I'm still sore but not nearly as bad as before. Fiona and I were both thrilled to get Brian home last night though.

Fiona's rash is not improving which has been really frustrating for us. We are now treating it with an antibiotic ointment. We've tried eliminating various foods, treating it as a bacterial infection, and now we are treating it as a fungal infection. If this is not it then we will eliminate wheat from our diets. Since she is still nursing she and I have to give up these things together. And since we are giving them up, Brian might as well too! I just want it to go away, we've been dealing with this for months! GRR!

That's all for now... I'm going to go crawl in bed with my sleeping girl for a bit of a nap!

We have really been loving the extra light in the evenings! Fiona loves to tromp around the yard. She and Papa do their chores outside every night after work. She is loving digging in the dirt! It's no wonder with two gardening Grandpa's that Fiona would have a green thumb! Inside times are spent climbing, reading books, and stealing Mama's underwear from the laundry basket!

Right now we are kind of mess though with colds, teething, and allergies. Still no improvement with her skin. We are slowly working through some food eliminations. I'm hopeful we will hit it soon!

Happy Easter!

We hope you all enjoyed Easter as much as we did. Fiona loved her easter egg hunt on the beach. It stopped snowing just in time! She was pretty thrilled with her three eggs and even more thrilled to dig in the sand. How many of you had to wear a snowsuit to your egg hunt?! :)

Baby Love

Baby gets lots of love around here. She gets tucked into bed to go "night night baby", she gets kisses and hugs, and she gets carted around in the wagon. Pink Baby gets love too but not nearly as much as this one. We love Baby! (Thank you Granny!)

Fiona has found her independence! It feels like I suddenly have this big girl. We go to a music group once a week. She used to sit right in my lap and dance and play within an arms reach from me. No more! She walks all around the room visiting the other kids and parents with occasional glances over at me to see that I'm still there. When its time to return the rhythm sticks to the box she marches right up there with the big kids to put hers in. She toddles up to the teacher to get a better look at the book or puppets during the songs. There is always a mad dash for the instruments when its time to do the marching band. Fiona is right there in the thick of things digging in the bag for her favorite egg shaker. I love seeing this side of her but I have to be honest, it makes me a little sad to see my baby getting so big and independent!
